MAHMOOD RAQI/MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A former jihadi commander was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in central Kapisa province on Tuesday, an official said.
Hesa-Daum-Kohistan district chief, Mohammad Osman Haqyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News commander Abdul Ahad’s car came under attack in Jamal Agha area.
The motive behind the commander’s assassination is still unclear. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Elsewhere, two policemen were wounded as a result of a roadside bomb blast on the Almar-Qaisar highway in northwestern Faryab province.
The Qaisar district head, Abdul Jamil Siddiqui, said the police pick-up was also destroyed in the bombing.
