KABUL’s tribal region of North Waziristan on Thursday morning, a media report said.
A number of suspects were injured in the latest drone strike in Shawal area of Waziristan, lying close to the Afghanistan border, a private TV channel reported. The unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at a compound.
Geo News, monitored here, said rescue activities were delayed as the drone hovered over the area for half an hour. The injured are said to be in critical condition. The house was set ablaze after the strike.
North Waziristan is infested with homegrown insurgents and a stronghold of Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives. Other extremist groups are also active in the inhospitable region.
In June, the Pakistan Army launched an operation codenamed ‘Zarb-i-Azb’ against Taliban militants in the region. The offensive is still continuing.
