HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped four health workers and their driver in western Herat province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the medics were abducted on the Ghorian district road late on Saturday.
He said the kidnapped individual had gone to Ghorian for the inauguration of a health centre and disappeared on their way back to the provincial capital.
Ahmadi added the individual had not informed police about their trip to Ghoryan. He gave no further detail about the victims.
A search operation had been launched for the health workers’ recovery, the official said, adding there had been no clue so far to the kidnappers.
