KABUL Cup Warm-up match, the spokesman of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said on Friday.
Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News that the warm-up face-off held at Melbourne in Australia. Sharing details of the match, Hotak said that his country team elected to bat first after winning the toss. The Afghanistan team, he said had set a 309 runs target for its rival team with a total 50 overs and by losing nine wickets. Facing with tough time after losing opening batsmen, Samiulllah Shinwari scored 58 runs, Najib Zadran 46 and Mohammad Bai 30.
However, in the ensuing battle, the batsmen of the rival team failed to achieve the target. The UAE team scored 294 runs with all out in 48 overs. Aftab Alam took three wickets, Mohammad Nabi two, Dawlat Zadran, Hamid Hassan, Javed Ahmadi and Mirwais Ashraf took one wicket respectively.
In addition, Afghanistan is scheduled to face Bangladesh on February 18 in the opening match. It merits mention that this was the last warm-up match the Afghan team participated ahead of the World Cup matches scheduled to be held on Saturday.
