KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday stressed the need for joint efforts to deal with contemporary challenges in the war on terrorism and extremism.
During a meeting with Dutch foreign and defence ministers, the president said the changing scenario posed new threats that required greater cooperation among states.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said the two sides agreed that the scourge of terrorism had spawned a wave of violence across the world.
“We have been engaged in fashioning a joint strategy with other Islamic countries for tackling the emerging threats,” the statement quoted the president as saying.
Ghani sought continued Dutch support for Afghanistan in harnessing its enormous water resources and executing other development projects.
Foreign Minister Bert Koenders assured his country would continue extending all possible support to Afghanistan. He said: “We will see how best we can Afghanistan exploit its water resources.”
