KABUL, the presidential adviser on tribal affairs urged the government not to compromise the gains of the past 13 years.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Shahzada Masood praised the government’s efforts for peace and stability. But he cautioned the parlays should not reverse the progress.
The nation expected the government to initiate development projects and ensure peace, he added. “A strong national will is needed for durable peace. The government should step up efforts at national, regional and international levels to garner support for peace in the country,” Masood remarked.
Disputes, he recalled, were resolved through negotiations and jirga. The traditional mechanism could yield the desired results, he believed.
Masood said the government should build efforts made for peace and stability by former president Hamid Karzai. The process could yield results if experienced individuals were included in the negotiating teams, he believed.
