FAIZABAD (PAJHWOK): Two militants were killed and three others injured in the Baharak district of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Saturday.
Intelligence officer Col. Sakhidad Haidari told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants assaulted a security check-post in the area last night, triggering a clash with police.
Two of the attackers were killed and three others injured in the firefight, he said, adding police and civilians suffered no casualties.
But resident Abdul Samad claimed three civilians — a man, a woman and a child — were injured by a rocket shell that hit their house. “The clash lasted about an hour, but it remains unclear as to who fired the rocket.”
A day earlier, at least Taliban have been killed and eight others detained, including their shadow district chief Obaidullah in a clearing operation in Warduj district.
