KABUL (PAN): Afghan officials inaugurated two school buildings reconstructed with a 1.5 million euro donation from the French government on Tuesday.
The Minister of Education Farooq Wardak said teaching equipment and accessories are crucial to boost the quality of education in the country.
The two new buildings would accommodate 10,000 students, he told an audience gathered at the Isteqlal school.
The French Ambassador to Kabul, Jean d Amecourt, said the reconstruction of the schools included the new buildings, chairs and desks, electricity and water system.
He pledged further assistance in improving the education system in Afghanistan.
There are more than 12,000 schools in Afghanistan, with only half owning their own property, the rest offer classes in rented buildings or out in the open air.
