LASHARGAH (PAN): Police detained a man and recovered three motorcycles packed with explosives in southern Helmand province on Wednesday, an official said.
Two of the motorcycles were found in Sola square and one was in Minar square, Kandahar police chief, Brig. Gen Hakim Angaar told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the explosives were hidden inside the oil tanks of motorcycles and that the militants had been planning to target students.
Separately, a clash between Taliban and police occurred on Kandahar-Helmand highway, leaving two Taliban insurgents dead, Angaar said. Police recovered two motorcycles, a Kalashnikov and explosives, he added.
