JALALABAD (PAN): Aid distribution to about 154 flood-affected families started in the eastern province of Laghman, officials said on Thursday.
Each family, which lost its house or belongings, would be provided 225 kilograms of wheat, 200 kilograms of ghee, peas and salt, the governor's spokesman said.
Gul Rahman Hamdard told Pajhwok Afghan News the relief items provided by World Food Programme (WFP) had been dispatched to provincial capital and district centres.
The aid is being distributed to 75 families in Alishang, 26 families in Qarghayee and 39 in Daulat Shah and 14 families in the provincial capital, Mahtarlam. The process will go on for three days.
A resident of the Surkhakan village in Qarghayee, Maulvi Muhammad Islam, said his house had been destroyed in last month's flash floods. He received food items today.
