KABUL(PAN): Eight Taliban insurgents have been killed and six others wounded in operations over the past 24 hours in different parts of the country, defence ministry said on Monday.
Six insurgents were killed and five others, including a gang leader, were wounded during operations in Marja, Greshk and Sangin districts of southern Helmand province, the ministry said in a statement.
Two militants were killed and a third was injured in a separate operation by the Bagram special force in Reshidan district of southern Ghazni province on Sunday, the statement added.
Separately, two suspected militants were detained during a joint operation in Khashrod district of southwestern Nimroz province, the ministry said.
A pistol, a walki talki, hand grenades and some Iranian currency were recovered from the suspects.
Several militants who hijacked a truck of a company in Azadkhel area of Syedabad district in central Maidan Wardak province were detained during an operation.
Up to 40 kilograms of explosives, a shell of BM1, firecrackers and a battery were seized in Shinkai area of Tagab district in central Kapisa province, the statement concluded.
