Seven killed in Waziristan drone strikesBy Salim Sulemankhel Oct 27, 2010 - 18:36
PESHAWAR (PAN): Seven suspected militants were killed on Wednesday in two US drone strikes in Pakistan's troubled tribal region of North Waziristan, near the Afghanistan border, a local official said.
Three fighters were killed and a fourth wounded in a predawn drone attack on a house in the Spinwam area in Mir Ali town, a tribal administration official told Pajhwok Afghan News over the telephone.
Requesting not to be named, the official said another four militants were killed and their car comprehensively destroyed in a similar missile attack hours later in the Karam area of Datakhel town.
Despite strong protests from the Pakistan government, the US military has stepped up drone attacks against Taliban and Haqqani Network militants, blamed for targeting NATO and coalition troops in Afghanistan.
