2 Aussie soldiers shot injured in Uruzgan

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Two Australian soldiers were wounded in a gun attack by Talibaninfo-icon militants in central Uruzgan province, the Australian defence ministry announced on Friday.

The soldiers were diffusing an explosive device in the provincial capital of Tirinkot on Friday when they came under attack, the ministry said in a statement.

Australia has stationed about 1,550 troops in the restive province.

So far, 21 Australian soldiers have been killed in the war-torn country and around 170 have been injured.

This year has been the deadliest on record for foreign troops in Afghanistaninfo-icon as 700 soldiers, including at least 500 Americans, have been killed.
