KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Suspected insurgents on Friday threw hand grenades into two houses in southern Kandahar province, killing a child in one and inuring six others in the other, officials said on Friday.
The incident took place in the Dasht area of Zheri district, where displaced families have been living, the governor's spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the explosions killed one child in one house and six people, including a child and a woman, in the other.
The district chief, Niaz Muhammad, said police were investigating why the two houses were attacked. He also accused the Taliban of carrying out the attack, saying the rebels always targeted innocent people.
However, no Taliban spokesman was immediately available for comment.
