GovernancePresidential spokesman resigns
by Zarghona SalehionJan 3, 2011 - 16:13KABUL(PAN): Presidential spokesman, Waheed Omar, on Monday said that he has resigned his post but the president was yet to approve it.
Speaking to reporters in Kabul, Omar said there was no specific reason behind his resignation and he gave up the job on his own will.
Omar, who replaced former presidential spokesman, Humayun Hamidzada, on December 15, 2009, said he would continue the job until his resignation was approved by the president and his replacement appointed.
He has also served as head of the media office at the Presidential Palace.
Omar was spokesman for the president's campaign office during the 2009 presidential elections and head of the Government Media and Information Centre (GMIC).
