KABUL(PAN): Police in Kabul had detained a three-member gang suspected of killing up to 30 people over the past several months, an official said on Wednesday.
The alleged killers identified as Amrullah, Wasi and Wahid were detained late Thursday in Kabul, 48 hours after a money charger, Farid, was found beheaded, crime branch chief, Col. Muhammad Zahir, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
"After the death of Farid, the Kabul crime branch department ordered high-ups in all crime branches to detain the criminals within 48 hours, otherwise they would be dismissed," he said.
Police officials detained the three on the outskirts of Kabul in cooperation with officials of the National Directorate of Security (NDS). Two knives coloured with blood of Farid were also found in their car, he claimed.
The detainees had confessed to their crimes and declared how they killed people for money. They had murdered 30 people, including a girl, over the past 18 months, he said. The detainees killed people for money, he said. "The murderers are under police interrogation, Zahir said
The crime branch last month said that a killer, who was involved in 105 murder and kidnapping cases, had been killed by police during an operation in Paghman district of Kabul.
