ISLAMABAD(PAN): Five militants were killed on Wednesday in a drone strike in North Waziristan, the tribal region near the Pakistan-Afghan border, officials said.

The US drone fired two missiles at a house early Wednesday morning in Haidarkhel area of Mir Ali Tehsil, an official in Miranshah town, Syed Rasul, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Five militants were killed and 15 others injured. According to recent reports from the scene, all of the victims were Taliban fighters, he said.

Armed men arrived at the scene following the attack and took the victims to hospital, a resident of the area, Muhammad Hasan, said.

The number of fatalities may rise as some of the militants were seriously wounded, he said.
