HERAT CITY (PANinfo-icon): Security forces detained a district chief along with four others in northwestern Nimroz province and seized narcotics, weapons and cash at his residence, officials said on Sunday.

Police raided the residence of the Dilaram district chief, Asadullah Haqdost, in Zaranj and recovered 35 kilograms of opium, two kg of heroine, nine Kalashnikovs, two guns, four pistols, seven Thuraya mobile sets and a machinegun.

More than 1.8 million afghanis (about $39,638), 2.6 million Pakistani rupees ($30,357) and 58 million Iranian tomans ($554) were recovered, counternarcotics police chief, Col. Esmatullah Baloch, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
