Karzai denounces Kunduz suicide bombing
Twenty-nine people, mostly civilians, were killed and 30 others wounded in the bombing, which happened at 12pm. The bomber, who came in on foot, targeted the people who had come to receive their national identity cards.
"Recent attacks in Khost, Nangarhar and Kandahar and today's suicide bombing in Kunduz have proved that the enemies of Afghanistan always target public places," the president said in a statement from his office.
He hit out at the "terrorists for killing innocent civilians and causing anguish to their families". Karzai said: "Afghanistan's foes should bear in mind they will never be able escape Allah's wrath and people's disgust."
While extending condolences to the bereaved families, the president prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the assault.
