Body set up to bring Afghan, Pak journalists closer
About 80 media professionals, including 21 from Pakistan, attended "A dialogue between Afghan and Pakistani media outlets", Killid Radio Director Najiba Ayubi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The Killid Group, the Committee to Protect Journalists and Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) jointly hosted the meeting.
Seven Afghan members of the committee are Danish Karokhel, Habibullah Rafi, Fahim Dashti, Akbar Akbar, Yasa, Salam Rahimi and Hussaina Safi.
The body, which would try to bring closer journalists from the two countries, had started its work, she added. "This is a three-year programme aimed at bringing journalists closer."
In a message read out at the meeting on Monday, President Hamid Karzai hoped that media outlets could play a significant role in promoting regional cooperation and improving bilateral relations between the two nations.
Rafi, a member of the committee, said its formation was an important step towards forging a greater understanding among journalists.
