Explosives-rigged bike seized in Jalalabad
JALALABAD (PAN): Security forces seized an explosives-rigged motorcycle and detained more than a dozen suspected militants in eastern Nangarhar province, police said on Wednesday.
The bike was seized on Tuesday night in Jalalabad, the scene of a recent attack on a private bank, police chief, Brig. Gen. Ali Shah Paktiawal, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
On Saturday, five suicide bombers wearing Afghan army uniforms stormed a branch of Kabul Bank in Jalalabad, killing and wounding more than a hundred people.
Paktiawal said two more suspects were arrested in a car on Tuesday night in connection with the bank attack. The detainees were friends of Usman Ghani, who was involved in the attack, Paktiawal said.
Separately, border police arrested 11 militants during an operation in the Goshta district on Tuesday night, the police chief said, adding the detainees were being interrogated.
