Lawmaker wounded in police fire
Jamshedi was going to Herat City from Rubat Sangi district and his vehicle was stopped at a border police checkpoint in the Kamar Kalagh area.
Police fire at the parliamentarian as a result of a verbal clash that erupted when Jamshedi was asked to show licences of the weapons he was carrying, the governor spokesman, Shafiq Bahrozyan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The incident was being investigated, Bahrozyan said, without providing further details.
Muhammad Nadir, a relative of Jamshedi, said the legislator was injured in his leg. However, he is said to be in stable condition. Police shot him without any reason, Nadir said.
