Denmark promises $100m in aid to Afghanistan
KABUL (PAN): Denmark would provide $100 million (4,518 million afghanis) in aid to Afghanistan this year for the promotion of education, rule of law, good governance and rural rehabilitation, a senior diplomat said on Thursday.
The government of Denmark made the decision on the donation after consulting with political parties, Danish Ambassador to Afghanistan Carsten Damsgaard told a press conference in Kabul.
A hundred Danish troops would leave the country by the end of 2012 and the remaining 650 would stay until 2014 to train Afghan forces, the ambassador added.
Even after the 2014 security handover, Denmark would continue to support Afghanistan's development, Damsgaard promised.
