Search operation to be launched in Ghazni
GHAZNI CITY (PAN): A search operation would be launched shortly in insecure districts of southern Ghazni province to strengthen the government's writ, officials said on Saturday.
The objective behind the operation was to reinforce government institutions and pave the way for reconstruction projects, a police commander told a press conference, which was also attended by tribal elders, security officials and foreign forces.
"Now the police force is strong and equipped with new weapons and its management and training has also improved," said the 505th Spinghar zone police commander, Maj. Gen. Gul Nabi Ahmadzai.
In response to tribal elders' demand for an end to "uncoordinated nighttime operations" by NATO-led troops, Ahmadzai said: "Foreign forces have learnt a lot from their past mistakes which would not be repeated."
Deh Yek district regional council member, Pir Mohammad, praised Afghan police for improving their attitude towards members of the general public.
