Rebel commander among 4 killed
ASADABAD/ KABUL (PAN): A Taliban commander was among four fighters killed during an operation by Afghan and international forces in eastern Kunar and southern Helmand provinces, officials said on Sunday.
The insurgents attack a patrol of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops in Narang district of Kunar on Saturday night, deputy police chief, Abdul Saboor Allahyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Foreign troops suffered no casualties in the attack, but a Taliban commander was killed and two others were injured in retaliatory airstrike, he said.
A militant spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said a military vehicle of foreign troops was blown up and all soldiers on board were killed.
Separately, three guerrillas were killed and their weapons seized during an ISAF operation in Nad Ali district of Helmand, the alliance said in a statement.
The Taliban, meanwhile, claimed inflicting several casualties on Afghan and foreign troops in separate attacks in the province.
