Bank victims’ families to receive plots of land
JALALABAD (PAN): The families of military and police officials who were killed or injured in last week’s suicide attack on the Jalalabad branch of Kabul Bank would receive plots of land, an official said on Monday.
Under a presidential decree, each family would be compensated with a plot of land in Nangarhar province, head of office of the governor, Massoud Ahmad Azizi, told reporters.
Forty people, 35 of them security personnel, were killed and 73 others injured when seven gunmen, wearing military uniforms and suicide vests, forced their way into the building in the Mokhabirat Square. Two of them blew themselves up and the others opened fire of customers.
Azizi said the families of the victims would be give priority at any state-owned township projects that would be constructed in the province.
Nangarhar police chief, Ali Shah Paktiawal, said families of police officials killed or injured would also be eligible for plots of land in Hisar Shahi area of Jalalabad city.
