Flood-affected families receive food aid
The relief items included wheat, ghee, pulses and salt donated by the World Food Program (WFP), Koh-i-Safi district chief, Abdul Wahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Four people were killed and thousands of acres of farmland and animals washed away by the floods in the district some eight months ago.
Each affected family received about 80 kilograms of wheat, 7 kg of pulse, 2 kg of ghee and 2 kg of salt, the district chief said.
The food items alone could not meet their needs, said Samar Gul, a resident of Iskandaria area. He urged assistance to the affected families in the area of agriculture,
"This is the third time we have received food. Most of the people lost trees and land and need help in the agriculture sector," he said.
