QALA-I-NAW (PANinfo-icon): Talibaninfo-icon fighters attacked the headquarters of a pro-government commander, sparking a clash that left at least four wounded in northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Monday.

The clash happened in Gulchin area on Sunday night when Mohammad Yosuf, the Taliban commander, attacked the headquarters of their former comrade, Abdullah, Badghis police chief, Col. Mohammad Jabar, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Two Taliban fighters and two of Abdullah’s forces were wounded, he said.

Abdullah had joined the peace process two months ago and was helping government forces keep security in Qadis, he said. More security forces have been deployed and are patrolling the area, he added.

Nooruddin, 45, a resident of Gulchin area, said the clash started at midnight.

Abdullah’s fighters were appointed by police headquarters to keep the security of the area and so local people came to their assistance during the fight, he said.

The wounded fighters were taken to the main district clinic by locals.

Last month, another Taliban commander, Naeemullah, who had joined the peace process, was attacked by the Taliban in Jawand district, and his wife and son were injured.
