Man shoots daughter-in-law in Kapisa
MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN): A man shot and wounded his daughter-in-law on Monday due to a family dispute in the central province of Kapisa, an official said.
Sabooria, 26, a mother of two, was in critical condition at Kapisa Civil Hospital, after being shot by her father-in-law in Darnama Village of Hisa-i-Koh Band district of the province, police chief, Col. Anwar Kuhistani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Kuhistani did not reveal any details about the dispute or the man’s name, although he said he was in police custody.
Meanwhile the department of women’s affairs said violence against women in Kapisa had dropped by 50 percent in the Afghan year which runs until March 21.
Last year, four women were killed and two wounded as a result of violence, but this year only two women had been killed and two others wounded, Bibi Shereen, the head of women’s department, said.
Also last year, about eight cases of violence against women were registered with the department but this year, there were only four cases, she said.
