15 girls injured in attack on Pakistani college
The assailants on motorbikes lobbed hand grenades into the college before firing at the students in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
At least three of the students were critically wounded in the attack in Lundkhwar area, Mardan police chief, Zeeshan Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But a doctor at the main hospital in Mardan, Mohammad Zaman, said 17 people injured by the gunmen were under treatment.
Hazrat Mir, whose daughter was among the wounded, said the administration had been receiving warning from militants to close the college. However, police failed to provide security for students and staff, he added.
The Taliban have destroyed hundreds of schools, mostly for girls, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last few years. Most of the attacks have happened in the tribal region.
