10 dead in Pakistan suicide bombing
At least 40 people were injured, some of them critically, in the powerful explosion near a police check-point in Hangu town of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The bomber detonated his explosives-laden pick-up at the entrance to the police post in Spina Khawra area, district police officer, Abdur Rashid Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said five police officials were among the dead and 30 among the injured. About 400 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack that damaged a number of nearby houses.
Another local official, Firdaus Khan, feared the death toll could be higher. So far, the bodies of 15 women and children have been retrieved from the rubble, he said. The injured were taken to a Hangu hospital.
