Blast kills one in Kandahar
KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A bomb explosion killed one civilian and wounded another in southern Kandahar province, an official said Thursday.
The explosives placed in a vehicle laden with food items went off in the Bagh-i-Pul area of the province late Wednesday night, the governor's spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Elsewhere in Kandahar, 14 kilograms of explosives were discovered in Arghandab district of the province, a statement from the Governor's House said. A mortar shell was found in 14th police district of Kandahar City.
In Zabul province, 20kg of opium was seized from a car and three people were arrested, said deputy police chief, Col. Ghulam Jilani Farahi. The opium was recovered late on Wednesday.
Police arrested two men with about 19 kg of hashish in northern Baghlan province. The detainees were being investigated in police custody, said police spokesman, Javed Basharat.
