Laghman cricket team beats Paktika
JALALABAD (PAN): Laghman beat Paktika while the Kuchis' trounced Parwan in an inter-provincial cricket tournament in eastern Nangarhar, officials said on Thursday.
Cricket teams from 20 provinces participated in the tournament that started on Feb. 25 in Behsud and Ghanikhel districts of Nangarhar.
On Wednesday, Laghman beat Paktika by 14 runs in the match held in Marco town of Ghanikhel district, media manager of Afghan Cricket Board, Ilham Yasini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Laghman won the toss and elected to bat first. The team scored 146 runs in 30 overs, he said.
In response, Paktika was all out in 132 runs, he said.
Meanwhile, in another match held in Besud bridge on the outskirts of Jalalabad city, the Kuchis beat Parwan by 38 runs.
Kuchis' got 103 runs in 15 hours, but Parwan was all out by 65 runs and could not reach their target, Yasini, said.
Four teams would go through to another tournament to find the 12 best teams for the national level, a statement from media office of the board, said.
A tournament would be held next month in Kabul which would include the four newly qualified teams, the statement added.
