School building constructed in Kunduz
KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): A German-funded high school was inaugurated in the northern province of Kunduz, solving problems of 800 students, officials said on Thursday.
The building for Sher Khan Dry Port School was constructed in one year at a cost of more than $7,000, Director of Education Mohammad Zahir Nazam told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The single-storey building, having 28 classrooms, eight toilets, a two-room kindergarten and a boundary wall, was constructed on 3.5 acres of land, he said.
Pupils were taught under tents before the construction of the building, said an 11th grade student, Nasratullah.
The construction of such buildings would help improve education standards in the province, Governor Mohammad Anwar Jagdalak said.
