KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): President Hamid Karzai on Friday urged Australia to invest in Afghanistaninfo-icon's mining and agricultureinfo-icon sectors, his office said.

At a meeting with visiting Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd, Karzai said Australia being an industrialised country should invest in the two areas.

Responding to the suggestion, Rudd promised he would explore on return home the chances of Australian investment in the mining sector. He evinced Australia's interest in investment in the agriculture sector.

During the meeting, Rudd also condemned recent civilian deaths during ISAFinfo-icon operations. He said the killing of nine boys by coalition forces in eastern Kunar province was unacceptable.
