Foreign troops survive bomb attack in Balkh
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): International forces escaped unhurt in a bomb attack that damaged a small bridge in northern Balkh province on Saturday, officials said.
The explosion happened at 1:30pm in Pul-i-Tasadi area on the Kabul-Mazar highway, deputy police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Rauf Taj, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A landmine placed beneath the bridge went off when a convoy of international forces was passing the area, he said. The soldiers suffered no causalities, Rauf said.
Shahbuddin, a resident of the area, said the powerful explosion caused panic among passengers, who started crying. The road was blocked and vehicles were diverted to dirt tracks, he added.
