Policewoman gunned down in Kandahar
KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a policewoman in the capital of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Sunday.
The incident happened in the 9th police district of Kandahar City late on Saturday evening when the policewoman was returning home, the police chief said.
Lt. Gen. Khan Mohammad Mujahid told Pajhwok Afghan News the official was killed by two armed motorcyclist, who escaped after perpetrated the murder.
Ser. Maryam joined the police force five years back, Mujahid said, adding her killing was being investigated. One of her detained son was being interrogated, the police chief said.
Another security official said on condition of anonymity that the victim had problems with her son. The source did not provide further information.
No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the murder in the city, where several governmental officials, tribal elders and policemen have been killed in recent months.
