Mar 07, 2011 - 11:50

PUL-I-ALAM (PANinfo-icon): Two Talibaninfo-icon insurgents were killed when they attacked Afghan and international security personnel in the central province of Logar, officials said on Monday.

The clash happened Sunday evening when Taliban fighters attacked a convoy of Afghan and foreign troops near Abu-Muslim Khorasani tomb in Baraki Barak district, the district chief, Mohammad Rahim Amin, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two fighters were killed in retaliatory firing, while two civilians were injured in the gunfire, he said.

The injured were taken to hospital and their condition was stated to be stable, he said.

Neither Afghan nor foreign forces suffered any casualties, he said.

A resident of the area, Shah Mahmud, said the two civilians were in their own homes when they were injured by gunfire.

Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, denied any casualties and claimed two foreign soldiers were killed and as many others injured in the attack.
