311kg of heroin seized in Nimroz
ZARANJ (PAN): A man was detained on Monday for allegedly trafficking 311 kilograms of crystal heroin in southwestern Nimroz province, on the border with Iran, an official said.
The drugs were seized from a transit truck in Pul-i-Abrisham area on Monday morning, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabar Purdali, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The crystal heroin, a much more addictive version of the drug, was stored in 1kg plastic bags. The driver, who has been detained, was intending to smuggle the drugs to Iran, he said.
Last week, 25kg of crystal, unrefined heroin and hashish were seized by security personnel in Zaranj city, the capital of Nimroz, and two people were detained on a charge of the drug trafficking.
