Two insurgents killed in Farah operation
Several areas, including Ghar Tepa, Mangdarakht and Atta Khan villages, were cleared of insurgents during the two-day offensive, codenamed Ittefaq (Unity).
The soldiers escaped unhurt in the rocket strike. Two rebels were killed and several others wounded in retaliatory fire from the soldiers, the statement added.
Lt. Syed Masood Yaqubi, a provincial police spokesman, said Afghan security forces -- backed by ISAF troops -- were conducting the operation. The offensive would have a positive impact on the security situation in Pakhtunkot, he hoped.
