30km road constructed in Kandahar
KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): The graveling work of a 30-kilometre long road has been completed in the southern province of Kandahar, officials said on Wednesday.
The 30km long road, which connects Spin Boldak district centre with Robat in the district, was inaugurated on Tuesday, the district chief, Abdul Ghani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Work on the road, costing $ 2.03 million (903 million afghanis), was started by an Afghan company four months ago with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), he said.
People in Robat would be able to reach the district centre much faster with the construction of the road, he added.
Those living near the road promised to keep it in good condition, a resident of the area, Lal Mohammad, said.
A member of the district development council, Gul Mohammad, said he welcomed the reconstruction effects of international welfare organisations. It would bring positive changes to the lives of people, he said.
