Drugs seized in Farah
HERATCITY (PAN): Police arrested a man in connection with trafficking more than half a ton of drugs near the Afghan-Iran border in the western province of Farah, officials said on Thursday.
The 553 kilograms of opium had been hidden inside bags of straw in the man’s tractor which had come from Bala Baluk district, deputy head of security personnel recruitment centre, Col. Juma Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The man was detained on Wednesday, he said.
Meanwhile, 20kg of opium was recovered from a house in Pusht-i-Rod district of Farah, but no one was detained.
On Feb. 21, police seized 370kg of opium from two vehicles in Bakwa district of Farah, which was on its way to Herat city.
