An insurgent commander killed
ZARANJ (PAN): An insurgent commander was killed and two others were detained by the international coalition in southwestern Nimroz province, officials said on Thursday.
The NATO-led alliance launched a raid by helicopter in Khashroad district on Wednesday night and killed the commander, whose identity s not yet known, Mohammad Hashim Noorzai, district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Another two insurgents were injured and three weapons taken from them, Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabar Purdeli, provincial police chief, said
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said it launched the operation in cooperation with Afghan security forces. They said the commander was involved in planning attacks against the coalition and Afghan security forces.
Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, Taliban spokesman, claimed ISAF forces raided a residential house in Khashroad, killing one civilian. He claimed another two civilians were detained by the force.
Last month, two mine planters were killed and a number of other insurgents detained in Khashroad district.
