Japan donates $41m to Afghanistan
The agreement was signed late on Wednesday in Kabul between Afghan foreign minister, Zulmay Rasoul and Japan’s ambassador, Rechero Takachi, the statement said.
Of the total, $30 million will be given to the Ministry of Finance to purchase fuel, while the rest is to equip a hospital in northern Balkh province, the statement said.
Since 2002, the government of Japan has donated $2 billion to Afghanistan. In 2009 Japan promised to donate $5 billion over a five-year period.
