SHIBERGHAN (PANinfo-icon): Unidentified gunmen kidnapped five civilians in Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Saturday.

The individuals, travelling to northern Faryab province, were kidnapped late on Friday on the Shiberghan-Andkhoi highway, the provincial police chief said.

With the victims yet to be identified, intelligence reports said 20 motorcyclists kidnapped the men and took them to Faryab, Brig. Gen. Abdul Aziz Ghairat told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said he was unaware about the incident.
