US asked to drop idea of permanent bases
The opposition to a permanent US military presence in the country came at a gathering of about 200 party activists in Kabul.
The Islami Aqdar leader, Ahmad Shah Ahmadzai, said the presence of foreign forces -- particularly Americans -- has never brought peace to any country of the world. "How they would bring peace here?" Ahmadzai asked.
"We have seen the presence of US forces in Afghanistan over the past nine years remained a major reason behind increasing violence and their further stay means more Afghan deaths," the politician said.
Participants of the assembly issued a resolution, asking the US government to pull out its army from Afghanistan as soon as possible and drop of the idea of permanent bases.
