7 killed, 42 injured in accidents
GHAZNICITY (PAN): Seven people were killed and 42 others were injured in two separate traffic accidents in the southern province of Ghazni on Monday, officials said.
The most serious accident happened on Monday morning when a logistic truck for foreign troops collided with a passenger bus at 9am in Karosai area on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, Qara Bagh district chief, Ahmadullah Khpalwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Seven passengers were killed and 31 others injured, he said.
The injured, including women and children, were taken Qara Bagh district hospital and Ghazni civil hospital, he said. Many of the injured were in critical condition, he said.
The truck driver fled the scene, but police are in pursuit, he said.
Another 11 people were injured at 7am when two passenger busses collided in Rawzi Kotal area on the outskirts of Ghazni city, traffic officer, Mohammadullah Ahmadi, said.
Two drivers and two women were among the injured, he said.
The accident occurred due to fast driving of both drivers and because the road was so narrow, he said.
The victims were taken to hospital and were in stable condition, he said.
Dr. Ismael Ibrahimzai, head of the hospital, said eight people were being treated at the hospital and one was in a critical condition.
Another three had been discharged from the hospital after treatment, he said.
