Rabbani wants regional states to help build peace
KABUL (PAN): Afghanistan's neighbours and other regional states could play an effective role in bringing stability to the country, High Peace Council Chairman Burhanuddin Rabbani told a Pakistan Senate delegation on Monday.
"Peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan means stability in the entire region," Rabbani said during talks with Pakistani lawmakers, led by Salim Saifullah Khan. The team came to Kabul on March 12.
Afghan and Pakistani senators have agreed to set up a joint committee to strengthen relations between the neighbouring countries. Both the sides are expected to sign an agreement about the committee by the end of March.
Saifullah Khan said his country, which still hosts millions of Afghan refugees, would continue its sincere efforts at helping Afghanistan achieve peace and stability.
