ASADABAD (PANinfo-icon): Two suspected militants were killed in an airstrike by NATOinfo-icon-led forces in eastern Kunar province, police said on Tuesday, but a public representative said the dead were civilians.

An investigation team had been sent to the Sawakai district, the scene of the Monday night air raid, to identify the dead, police chief, Brig. Gen. Khalilullah Ziayee, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

However, a local council member, Kamil, said the victims were two teenage boys who were watering their crops at the time of the attack. The two had a flashlight which was seen by the plane, he added.

The media office of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) in Kabulinfo-icon confirmed the incident, saying two militants planting roadside bombs were killed. In a statement, ISAF said there were no civilian causalities.
