4 policemen wounded in Herat
HERAT CITY (PAN): Four policemen were wounded when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in Zinda Jan district of western Herat province on Tuesday, an official said.
The police pickup hit the mine as it was heading to a checkpoint that had been attacked, district chief, Mohammad Javid Tokhi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The four policemen were only slightly injured, he said.
Tokhi said there were no casualties on either side.
However, a Taliban spokesman, Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, said five policemen were killed in a bomb blast and that a guard at the checkpoint had been shot dead.
The district chief rejected the claims and said police had arrested a suspect in the attack.
